Can Losartan Cause Oedema Of Legs, Dizziness And Loss Of Balance?

My husband had a stroke 6 months ago. His entire life he always had low blood pressure but of course the night of the stroke it was over the top so he has been on Losartan potassium50MG ever since. I monitor his BP & has been fine. Cardiologist says he s fine. My question is, can he stop the blood pressure medicine? Reason is, his legs & feet are swollen beyond belief & he has been dizzy & unbalanced since the stroke. We have tried antibiotics for months, socks, putting legs up, etc. to no avail. Would like to know if maybe the medicine has been the culprit all this time. Thank You

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If he is not moving about as before because of his stroke then this could be the cause of the swelling.
In addition to moving whenever or however possible, he would need to elevate the legs when he is sitting as you are already doing.

Since the cardiologist ruled out heart disease, the liver and kidney should be checked because abnormal function here can also cause swelling.
His protein levels also need to be checked, low protein can cause swelling.

I hope this helps
