Can Losartan Be Taken Instead Of Carvedilol Due To High BP?

I was on Losartan for my high bld press. got a bad dry cough, thought my bp meds was causing it as a few yrs ago I was on Losenepril and had that problem, my Dr. changed me to carvedilol but also told me he didn t think my med was causing cough, turned out I had a virus for 10 days causing the cough. question is this new med is keeping my heart rate down but my bp is over the top again! Can I go back to my losartan right away and stop the carvedilol? I still have some losartan. Thanks so much, Violet Payne

Hello.Cough is common side effect of Lisinopril but it is not usual adverse effect of Losartan. Cough was probably caused by virus.Carvedilol may be replaced by Losartan but you must go to your doctor to control blood pressure and to establish the appropriate dose of Losartan.
I wish you good health.
