Can Lopamide And Darolac Be Taken Together For IBS?

Hi doctor. I hve been suffering from Acid reflux from a couple of years now. Have also had ano rectal fistula operated last year. Now as hve taken hell lot of allopathic medicines,my stomach is always full of acid n bloating in my upper abdomen. Recently a doctor has diagnosedrme from IBS n hve given me Lopamide n Darolac to consume daily for three months. I hve just started the course n I am afraid that Lopamide might lead to constipation. Just wanted to ask is that safe to take both these together?

Hi,Dear,Thanks for your query to HCM.
Dear I read facts of your query and reviewed it in context to your query health issues.
I understood your health concerns and feel Concerned about them.

Based on the facts of your query, you seem to suffer from-
Operated Ano-Rectal fistula with Ano-Rectal Spasm with Acid Reflux, which is the cause of your Acid Reflux and IBS-Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
Adding Lopamide for 3 mths would result in to Aggravation of Existing Acid Reflux, due to the exaggeration of Ano-Rectal spasm with Ano-Rectal fistula in your case.
Treatment- suggested-
Bland Diet with Yoghurt
With Butter Milk- with pepper and coriander to cool the inflamed bowel and improve the digestion is a must.

Normaxin Tab- for 2 weeks to control the acid reflux till the time the disturbed bowel and acidity is settled in your case.

The right thing in your case would be-to Take Darolac and Loperamide for 2 weeks to stabilise the disturbed Bowel, but Dietary Restriction - to Bland Vegan Diet with more of liquids would help you more with it.

Darolac for 3 months needs to be taken with -Vit B12 and Folic Acid to balance the needs from the effects of Darolac with Ano-rectal spasm in your case.
Liquid diet with 30% solids would be right prescription for your case.
Avoid alcoholic Drinks and tea/coffee and tobacco products in any form and avoid fried / spicy diet for 3 mths time strictly, which seems to be the main reason in your case, as you have accompanying Ano-Rectal fistula.

Rule out -hidden Diabetes by proper checkup from Physician doctor.

Long term treatments would recoup the ano-rectal and accompanying acidity problem in 3-6 mths time, under expertise of GI-Surgeon.

This would help you to recover of this problem for the time being.

Other causes need to be verified with your GI Surgeon and / Physician doctor-like Crohn's disease / TB enteritis / Ulcerative colitis, as the facts which you submitted, may in actual be different than what you may really have after actual GI Surgeon Assessment.

For this Second opinion from General-Surgeon/Physicain doctor and if need be with Specialist-GI-Surgeon doctor, is needed who would do proper investigation after proper physical assessment to resolve your health issues.

For early recovery-please follow above do's which would resolve your issues.

Hope this would help you to treat your health issues in the best way possible.

Welcome for any further query in this regard.
Good Day!!
