Can Levest Contraceptive Pills Be Used Along With Implant In Arm?

Hello Dr My wife has got implant in her arm about 10 months ago but she won’t stop bleeding. Then they descripted her Levest 150/30 contraceptive. Now for about 7 months using those tablets with an implant in the arm and I don’t feel right about that. I think it may have a strong effect on her pregnancy in the future. Can you help me what to do ? Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome.

The use of contraceptive implants or pills individually itself may have minor side effects on the menstrual cycle as a whole, and this may be a small but easily tacklable issue. Using both together may make it a tad bit more complicated, but nothing too serious. She may end up having menstrual irregularities after getting off the contraception and birth control, but in my opinion nothing we cannot set right.

Best wishes.
