i have been taking 2 150mg of Zantac for several years. every time I stop I experience severe heartburn I am using ketacozanole cream for dermatitus for 5 years to little effect. i just read that the Zantac could be affecting the ketacozanole. i want to get off the Zantac but am not sure how to wean myself off of it. i have noticed edema in my left foot. it is so bad that I had to buy a larger shoe size to accomodate the swelling. I am a 60yr old male.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

As you are using ketokonazole ointment, it is unlikely to affect the intake of zantac which is taken orally. You may choose to consult your doctor and get better medications like pantoprazole for heart burn which are more effective and will control your symptoms.
