Can I Take Nyquil Before Going Into Labour?

Hi, I am almost 40 weeks pregnant (due date is Feb. 14) and have been feeling quite sick for the past 2 days. I have a nasty cold and cough, headaches, sinus congestion and chills. Not sure I can go through labour feeling like this, I have no energy and have had insomnia the last 3 nights. This late in the game, would it be a huge concern if I took some Nyquil to help me get some rest at night and recover from this before I give birth? None of the other "pregnancy-safe" remedies are helping :(...

Hi
Dr. Purushottam welcomes you to HCM virtual clinic!
Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully gone through your query, and I think I have understood your concern. I will try to address your medical concerns and would suggest you the best of the available treatment options.

1)First of all do not panic.

2) I will suggest you to have warm salt water gargles, steam inhalation after meals.
Anticold tablets like SNEE, SINAREST 2 to 3 times a day as needed, Tab CELIN 500mg 2 times a day for 10 days will be of help.

3) As your cough and cold problem will start resolving, you will be able have sound sleep. At your 40 weeks condition it is better to avoid Nyquill or any other sedatives, as you have chances of going into labour anytime.

I hope my answer helps you.
Thanks.
Wish you great health.
