Can I Smoke While Diagnosed With Chest Infection And Asthma?
Hi, I have a chest infection and today I was put on antibiotics and steroids I also have asthma I was planning to go out this weekend and was wondering what would happen if I drunk also when I drink I normally smoke. Will I get worse if I went out or should i be fine for one night, what will happen to me if I do??
Hi welcome to Healthcaremagic, Your condition is going to be really bad if you smoke while having a chest infection. To make the scenario worse you are also having bronchial asthma. The bronchial system and alveoli will be already inflamed and an insult like smoking can push you into an attack of respiratory failure which is a life threatening condition. Since you are an asthmatic it is recommended that you quit smoking permanently. It will reduce the frequency of asthmatic attacks. You will be able to bring down the dose of your inhaled medications. And you will be free from such bad chest infections in the future.
