Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm married for last 2 years and i have had sex with my husband last night. We are not ready for a child now. I have never had I pill before. What if I take I pill? Does this affect my future pregnancy?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
No a single dose of i-pill should not cause infertility. Ipill works by inhibiting the implantation of fertilized egg on the uterus wall. It has however tendency to cause irregular periods due to its high dose of levogestrol. Irregular periods or other side effects will go on with 1 or more menstrual cycles. Use condom or regular contraceptive pill as method of preventing unwanted pregnancy in future. An emergency pill like I-pill should not be used as regular method of contraception. Regular intake of emergency contraceptive pills can cause problems like irregular periods, ovarian hyper-stimulation syndrome & even infertility.
