Can I Increase Dosage Of Librium To 4-6 Hours Apart Instead Of 8?

Can I increase dosage of Librium to 4 - 6 hours apart instead of 8? After starting taking it my son, an adult, slipped out and bought two bottles of liquor. We found it when the Librium was doing no good and he had run out of liquor. Now he is in our home and he is getting quite agitated; hence, the thought of giving him another capsule after only 4 hours. What is the danger?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Librium (Chlordiazepoxide) is given in a dose of 50 to 100 mg par day in 3-4 divided doses (6-8 hourly). The dose can be increased if the patient is agitated and after calming the patient dose is tapered off to maintenance levels.
I would recommend a visit to your doctor to decide how much dose to be given and how frequently as Librium dose is given patient wise.
Thank you.
