Can Garcinia Cambogia Be Taken Safely For Weight Loss?

I have both grand mal and temporal lobe epilepsy. I take 3x500 mgs of Valporate daily and 1x5 mg of Valium at night. I have not had a seizure for approx. 4 years, although i have had Temporal Lobe episodes more frequently over the last year and a half. I am female, 53 years old, 5 2 , and 70 kilos. I am very interested in trying Garcinia Cambogia to aid weight loss. can you tell me if it would be safe for me to try.

Hello dear,

Garcinia cambogia has been endorsed as an effective weight loss aid, but there are no scientific studies to support it.
However, there have been reports of Liver damage/ Hepatotoxicity following the use of Garcinia.
As you are already taking Sodium valproate and Valium, there are chances of drug interaction with Garcinia, which may further aggravate the risk of Liver damage.
So, in my opinion it will not be advisable to use Garcinia as a measure of weight loss.

Wishing you a Good Health.
Take care.
