Can Duphaston Be Taken During Pregnancy?

Hi I am 6 weeks pregnant and having some internal bleeding around the sack doctor has advised Duphaston 10 mg twice daily for that. I have read that the medicine has been banned in US, UK due to its side effects on fetus. I am quite worried what to do what not to do. Please suggest.

Hello dear
Understand your concern
Do not worry dear.
Duphaston should be safely used during pregnancy.
It is given in high risk pregnancy to prevent the miscarriage and promote the growth of fetus.
You can also take progesterone suppository.
It should be taken under the observation of gynecologist and regular follow up USG should be done to know the progress of pregnancy.
Hope this may help you
