Can Dexona Cause Severe Cold And Cough As Side Effects?

Hi sir, My 7 month old kid has a mild problem in liver. While test his liver size was found little big, so the doctor prescribed Dexona 1/2 twice for 10 days to the kid to reduce or bring the size to in normal. But right during the course, he is having severe cold and cough. I doubt it is because of the that tablet side effects. Please clear my doubt and let me know that if it won t be harmful.

Hi...Dexona is a steroid called Dexamethasone. It should not be used like this to bring down liver size. I think your pediatrician should have a good reason to use a steroid like this. Kindly get back to him as to why a steroid is given for this reason. Steroids are associated with complications if they are used for wrong indications unnecessarily.
