Can Depo Injection Cause Infertility?

Hi There Dr, Ive had abnormal period cycles for the past 2 months after coming off the injection. 9:20 pm I was on the injection for 2 cycles of 2 months shots. I have had 2 shots of the injection. Prior to that I was on the pill for 3 years and went off it for 3 months and started the injection. Now I sit with dark brown period blood with lasts very long although I have had my period prior to receiving the dark brown blood. When will I be able to be fertile again? What should I do?

Hello,
Depo provera does not cause long term infertility, but it can take up to a year for your periods to regulate and get back to normal after coming off depo. Once you stop getting the shots your periods may be very irregular with spotting and irregular bleeding. Once your periods get back to normal then fertility will return.
Regards
