Can Canesten Cream Be Used For Thrush While Breast Feeding?

Hi I am Breast feeding my 17 week old,I have thrush on my nipples and am using canesten cream. You are supposed to wash this off before every feed, however I just forgot this and fed my son 30 mins ago without cleaning off the cream, baby seems fine. Is there anything I need to do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It seems there should be no worries in this case as baby seems fines and ingestion of canesten cream(clotrimazole, antifungal) would have been very little to cause any side effects such as nausea, vomiting, irritation etc
However this practice should be avoided in future.

Thanks
