Can BC Pills Postpone Menstrual Cycle?

Hi. I had Unprotected sex four days after end of my menstral cycle. LMP 12/25/13. Sex on 1/01/14 I was to start my new pk of BC 12/29/13.. But didn t I started my BC in 1/2/2014. I started getting pregnancy symptoms a week later.breast fuller/sensitive. Tired..lower back pain.. Mood swings..weird cravings. I took seven preg tests from 1/18/14 all the way up to five days after my next supposed to be missed period (1/22/2014) all negative. I started drinking parsley tea and high doses if vit-c on 1/23/2014. Did that for three days. I started getting cramps them spotting now two days after blood clots and more spotting. That pregnacy feeling disappeared the day I cramped and started to spot. My stomach also went down and my breast also and no soreness..I am not sure if me taking the BC pills late perhaps delayed my period due date by four days or if I was indeed pregnant and is having a miscarriage (meaning I aborted it myself ) I had missed a complete period two months prior to this happening due to me not taking the BC correctly and stopping 3/4 way of the pack. (I was not sexually active at that time. I had a gyn visit and My GYN doctor

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
You have gone through a lot for this but I feel that there is no need to worry so much.
From your history it appears that you had a delayed period as you started the pills a little late. Periods usually start in the next 7 days after you complete your active pills. Pills can themselves produce symptoms similar to pregnancy like nausea, bloating and weight gain in some women. Also the chances of ovulation are very low on day 6 or 7 of the menstrual cycle so chances of pregnancy are low.

The urine test does not come positive before atleast 7-10 days after the missed period so do remember this.

Please remember that pills contain hormones that affect our menstrual cycle. So it is advisable to take them as per instructions and avoid making changes in the format.

Your question does not clarify your current condition, however if you have stopped bleeding, no need to worry and take your next pack as per schedule.

Hope you find this useful.
