Can BC Cause Spot Bleeding For Weeks?

Hi, I was on Sprintec for about 2 months and on the last week of my placebo pills I was on my period and actually ended the pack and went off of it for medical reasons. I then got heavy spotting about a week or two later thinking since I went off of BC it gave me another period..but it didn t really seem like a full period just constant spotting for several days. My actual period that I had gotten while I was on BC was July 29th. It is now September 4th and I have not had anything but today I noticed a light pink spot on my underwear but nothing again all day. I ve taken a few pregnancy tests 2 days ago and all negative. Could all of this be because I went off of my BC???

Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Sudden withdrawal from birth control pills can lead to irregular bleeding and spotting.
However, other causes of irregular spotting like local lesions in the cervix or vagina including cervical cancer should be ruled out by proper examination and pap smear.
You should consult an OBGYN specialist for the same.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
