side effects can be possible with atenolol but its not that everyone who takes atenolol will get side effects.most commmon side effects are swelling over feets,shortness of breath,weight gain,tingling sensation,irregular heart beat.keep in touch with your health care provider and contact him as soon as you feel so

Hi.yes atenolol is not the most preferred b blocker in diabetics .it masks the symptoms of hypoglycemia so pt wil go in hypo more freq , also causes dyslipidemia n cardiac side effects etc.metoprolol may b preferred over it.thanx
