Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking

Self medication is never advised to patient. You have been on amixide since last 5 years and this has made you dependent. Best way to wean off from the drug is by gradually tapering the doses. You should consult a psychiatrist for expert opinion. In usual practice such patients are advised to take half the dose for next 6-8 weeks and then you can take 10 mg Amitriptyline for next 4 weeks and then stop completely. In this way serious withdrawal will be avoided.

Consult a psychiatrist for opinion.

Thanks
