Can Adderall Cause Abdominal Cramps With Hematuria?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... I am a 52 year old female and recently was diagnosed with life-long untreated ADHD. I was prescribed 20mg Adderal xr once daily and have been taking it for about 4 months. I have been thrilled with the difference it has made in my ability to function as a normal human being. Suddenly and without warning, I began to experience abdominal cramps at work. When I went to the restroom, I noticed some blood drops after urination. A few minutes later, I felt the need to go again and this time there was more blood. After about an hour, I had been to the restroom about 8 times and each time the bleeding and cramping were worse. I went to the ER and they did a CT scan and urinalysis. After about two hours there, the bleeding spontaneously stopped and by the next day I seemed fine. Tests indicated no infection. Could this episode have been caused by the adderall? If so, is it an isolated incident? Can I safely continue taking Adderall or is there potential risk.

Hello! Adderall belongs to stimulant drugs. It contains amphetamine and dextramphetamine. It is a drug of many side effects. The most frequent are abdominal pain, bloody, blurry or dark urine, urination disorders (burning, difficulty or pain during urination), urge to urinate insomnia, headache, loss of appetite and weight loss. As you see your complaints can be from the drug. This doesn't mean that you have to stop the drug immediately. I suggest, you should see your doctor to some tests and evaluations of the urinary system to exclude other possible causes. Even if the drug induced the symptoms that raise your question, in my opinion you shoud not stop the drug if those symptoms don't repeat.
I hope ii have been of help.
