CT Scan Of Lungs Done. What Does Findings Mean?

I had CT scan of my lungs this is what was found. Medially in the right middle lobe there is an area of patchy air space opacity extending out 6 cm size area. It has a somewhat flat elongated appearance on the coronal and sagittal reconstructions. No pleural effusions. Right lobe of the thyroid extends quite posteriorly overall thyroid volume normal to borderline. No mediastinal adenopathy. Impression; Subsegmental atelectasis right middle lobe. What does this mean

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

According to CT Scan reports there is patchy opacity(measuring 6 cm)in right middle lobe of lung in medial side.It is due to partially collapse of right middle lobe.There are many causes of collapse of lungs and it need to be investigated.
There is also extension of right lobe of thyroid in posterior direction and volume of thyroid is normal to borderline increased.
There is no e/o pleural effusion and enlarged lymph nodes.
