Thank you. Hello. I am trying to visualize a CT Scan report for myself. 'Impression: lg heterogeneous solid pelvic mass lying anterior to the rectum & extending to the right & left surrounding the sigmoid colon into the adnexal regions with innumerable individual & conglomerate dimension & peritoneal nodules which coalesce to form mass-like thickening in the inter loop region of the pelvic small bowel. -- lg prominently solid irregular pelvic mass present bilaterally ... Extends into both adnexal regions. ' There is much more! I'm scheduled for colonoscopy Aug 27th. They don't send visuals with these reports & I think I do much better knowing what I'm facing. Can you help me understand this? I thank you, Diana
I understand you got CT scan abdomen and pelvis (plain and contrast) done for a suspected mass or swelling in the pelvic region.
The CT findings suggest the presence of a soft tissue mass in the pelvis, (? size not mentioned) however as it is seen to extend into both adnexal regions (near ovaries). The mass might be heterogeneous as they have described it as conglomerate with peritoneal nodules.
It is difficult to come at a particular diagnosis without seeing images, still the first possibility that comes to my mind for such a mass is a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). I do not know about your any bowel related complaints but as you have going to have a colonoscopy, any intraluminal bowel involvement might be suspected.
There are other tumors also which present in same manner, they might be arising from ovaries, mesentry, nerves etc. The confirmatory diagnosis can only be made after doing a biopsy.
Hope this helps.
