Burning Sensation, Itching Outside Ears. Tried Ear Drops, No Relief. Cure?

I am facing burning sensation along with itching on the outer side of ear near hole. Further i have some sensation like some ant or some such thing moving on that area. I am facing this problem since last six-seven months. I have tried many ear drops but there is no result. As such there is no pain in the inner/outer or the back of ear. I am habituated to wear and cover ears by cap while sleeping since almost two years.

Hello...
Welcome to Healthcare magic and thanks for writing to us.

Itching and burining of ears can happen due to a number of reasons.
It could be because of impacted wax, allergic reaction to any particular food, cosmetics, elastic rubber, latex etc, chronic sinusitis, exzematic lesions, or even due to any problem with your temperomandibular joint as the discomfort can radiate to the outer ear.
Stress and Extreme cold or heat can be a cause for burning ears.

If you are a swimmer that can also be a cause for burning and itching of ear.

As you have no pain or redness, we can rule out any infection of the outer or inner ear.

As you have mentioned that you have been covering your ear since 2 years with cap, it could possibly be due to that, where constant contact of cap could cause a allergic reaction.

Try avoiding the cap for a while and see if there is relief in these symptoms.
If the problem persist even after that, please do consult a Otorhinolaryngologist/ family physician for further management.
