Bruising on inner thigh, groin area and neck area, light color, fever and constant sleep. Help?

Hello. I have a 5 year old. I just gave him a bath and noticed some bruising on his inner thigh/ groin area on both sides and up on his neck . Its very light in color and only noticeable in certain lighting. He has not been feeling for the past 3-4 weeks, some days he has a fever and sleeps a lot some days and doesn t eat or drink well. He seems to have lost 1-3 pounds also. What could this be?

Hi Sarah,

You might be worrying over nothing, since kids tend to get bruised while playing.

However, it may be serious, if the bruises have occurred without injury.
Get a routine blood count done (WBC count with differential count, platelet count, RBC count, haemoglobin level), and see a heamatologist.
