Bruised Foot After A Fall. Severe Pain. Any Suggestions?

I was walking down a path in the dark and tripped over a log. I fell on all fours. My leg has a good scratch on it but I've develped a black and blue mark on the inside of my foot, just above the bottom of my foot. My leg is starting to ach if it's not elevated. Suggestions? Concerns? I went to a Walgreens lady and she gave me Cephalexin 500 mg because I was and hopefully now have kicked an ugly cold. Thanks, (I am 52 years old, in fairly god health)

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The bruise that has appeared is due to an internal injury top the foot. This could be a soft tissue injury or a bone injury. This needs a direct examination and X-ray to find out exactly.
