i stubbed my second toe a couple of days ago and i think it is probably broken. It is bruised and very red a swollen at the top around the toenail. It is warm to touch and very sore. There is no bleeding under the nail just puffy and swollen around it. i have it buddy taped which helps a little but am worried about the swelling and redness. - should i see a doctor.
Hello and welcome to health care magic. Your description is suggestive of a fracture of the metatarsal which is the small bone inside the toe. The pain and swelling demands medical attention. My advice is to visit an orthopaedic doctor at the earliest and let him take an xray. He will give you the analgesics like aceclofenac to reduce pain and inflammation and will treat accordingly after seeing the xray. One thing you can do now is to tape together the painful toe with the neighbouring 3rd toe in a single turn so that it will get some support. There is no benefit in covering the broken toe alone with tape as you have already done. Hope this discussion will be helpful to you. Thank you.
