Bruise In Knee, Leg, Difficulty In Bending Knee, Had A Fall. Normal Xray, MRI Suggested. Anything To Worry?

I fell about two and a half weeks ago I was unable to bend my knee for a week and a half now I am bruising in different spots along my knee, leg, and side's of my foot i had an x-ray done and nothing was bruised so the ER said i may need a MRI but my insurance does not cover this. Is this some that I should pay out of pocket for? the ER doctor didn't seem very worried and just seemed as if they just wanted to tell me something because they was unsure.

Hi
Knee injuries are pretty common, all over the world, the main fragile structure inside the knee is meniscus, and if it is damaged then only MRI can detect it, so go for MRI, and if meniscus intact then we can come to know the exact reason of bruises, you should not take it as granted, take better care of your knee, Have good day.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. K. Naga Ravi Prasad's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.
Unable to bend the knee for a week after the injury byitself indicates some serious damage to the joint structures. As your Xrays are negative for any bony injury, I suspect either "meniscal injury" or injury to the "cruciate ligaments" in the knee joint.
These problems can only be diagnosed by MRI scan.
Consult an orthopedic surgeon and follow his advice accordingly.
Hope this helps
