Brown Discharge In Urine. Taken Aspirin. PTT Levels Undetermined. What Does This Mean?

male , 84 year old, NKA, has taken aspirin in the past...has had ongoing issue/concerns with frequency, he discovered brownish color in his urine 2 days ago...last nite it was brighter...probably mixed with regular urine...don't know PT, PTT levels......He is wondering what could be the cause of the more frank blood in his urine....No known issues with blood in his stool.....He has had colonoscopies in the past.....

Hi and thanks for this query.

I am so sorry to hear abut what he has been experiencing.

Given his age and the information you have provided, this could be a problem with his prostate(benign hypertrophy or cancer). It could also originate from the kidneys or bladder fro multiple causes like infection, stone, cancer etc. He will need to be evaluated by his physician to establish the possible cause of these symptoms. Also, he will do some blood test, urine analysis and maybe an ultrasound of the prostate glands depending on his findings and orientations. This will establish the cause. Further management will depend on the initial findings. I don't think this bleeding is related to clotting difficulties.

Hope you find this helpful and informative. If yo have more questions, please, ask us and we shall provide answers. I wish you well.
