Breathing Difficulty, Heavy Snoring During Sleep. Endoscopy Done. Recommended Adenoid Removal. Side-effects, Alternate Treatment?

Dear Doctor,My son is 13 years old.during sleeping he shows difficulties in breathing and snoring heavily. ENT specialist done endoscopy and advised for the remooval of adenoid .can you tell me what will be the side effects?Whetehr it is required to remoove the adenoid?Is any alnternative?please advise YYYY@YYYY

hello. if your child is having snoring and breathing difficulty, it is better to get the adenoids removed. it is a very safe and common surgery, you don't have to worry. side effects include bleeding and damage to the eustachian tube ( tube connecting your ear and nose) , but these are very rare, relax!
