A boil is usually tender and painful to touch whereas a lipoma
is usually painless unless it has nerve
involvement. Your history suggests more towards a boil rather than a lipoma. If the boil is mild then antibiotics may be sufficient. But if it is bigger with lot of pus inside them you may need a surgical procedure to let out the pus. Lipoma s usually does not need surgical removal unless it is very big or for cosmesis. All the best.
