Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Body Odor Increases With Humidity, Changed Diet, Used Coconut Oil And Lemon Juice
body odor The odor covers my whole body, I have changed my diet and it seems to have no change, Odor increases with humidity and gets increasingly worse when riding motorcyle. The only thing that seems to keep this smell away is coconut oil and juice from lemon or lime. I have tried every soap commercially sold with no chnage in the condition.
I went through your problem descriptions. I suggest you not to worry too much. Sweating is the basic reason. Sweat is a very good culture or medium in which numerous bacterias thrive. The bacteria breaks down sweat into aromatic fatty acids, which produce the unpleasant odour. This means body odour can be tackled by : (a) Reducing the amount of sweat (b) Treating the bacteria that produce the odour.
The best way to reduce sweat is keeping yourself in a diet with low sodium intake. Bath thrice daily. Confirm that you do not have any thyroid problems which can cause excessive sweat. If you are getting relief with coconut oil and lemon juice, please continue it. They are good for your skin.
Hope this clears your doubts. Available for further clarifications.
