Blurred Vision After Face Injury. Need To Worry?

Hi, I was in a minor Bicycle accident about a week ago. The end result was me crashing to the pavement and hitting the right side of my face on the ground. I was wearing sun glasses and the right lens of the glasses were scratched pretty bad, and it seemed to have hit the bone of my eye socket. Since then, the vision in my right eye has been blurred and partially obstructed and feels weaker than my left eye. I ve been to the doctor, and he said there was no blood vessels popped or anything out of the ordinary. Should I be worried about this, or should I give it more time to heal?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

Since you are having visual disturbances following your fall, there might be some intraocular problem (though it looks normal from outside) like hemorrhage, retinal detachment etc, I suggest you to consult an Opthalmologist for further workup and management.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day

Ophthalmologist Dr. Dadapeer K's  Response
Hello,
Blurred vision and partly loss of field of vision following injury to the orbit can be because of indirect injury to the optic nerve which lies deep inside the orbit. If it is so it needs to be evaluated and treated.
However some simple reasons can lead to blurred vision like injury induced inflammation which will resolve by one week.
Since the symptoms have not resolved even after one week, I advice you to consult ophthalmologist who after simple tests like measurement of vision, examination of anterior segment of the eye and retina will be able to guide you regarding further treatment.
Thank you
