Blood In Stools, Stomach Discomfort, Back Pain, Body Stiffness. Due To Stress?
Hi, I`m a 36 year old American male living in tokyo. For the past few years I have been under a lot of stress but I`m normally quite healthy and energetic. I get bright red blood (lots of it) in my stools sometimes, with no pain usually, but recently I have developed lower back pain and some slight discomfort on the right side of my stomach . My whole body also feels stiff for the past few months... Any idea what might be causing this besides stress? I`m going to the clinic this month for my first colonscopy but would also like to hear anything else I might need to consider.
Hi Wyldeblade,
The symptoms you have tried to explain can be due to many different reasons ranging from the most serious to the most trivial ones. Hence instead of bothering about the diagnosis and do a lot of net self reading, its always better to proceed with the investigations one by one. The most common reason for the above said complaint could be a problem of piles and associated anemia. This causes painless bleed and multiple bodily symptoms. One should also consider gastritis and other acid peptic disease. One this that you did not mention is whether you are already on some medications. Getting a colonoscopy done is a good idea and will clarify many doubts for you. Stress has not much to do with your passing of blood in stools and pain in abdomen.
Hope these things clarifies your doubts. Believe me, many times the problem is not as worse as we generally apprehend. Keep faith!
