Blood From Urethra, Weak Flow. On Anti-diarrhea Medication. Is It Prostate Cancer?
first pee of the day and as i finished urinating i noticed a single droplet of neat blood form in the opening to my urithra. I've not noticed it again but it's only been 12 hours. a few months ago i experienced weak flow in the mornings but my GP put it down to taking regular high doses of anti-diarrhea tablets for the last decade. My father and uncle both had prostate cancer. should i run straight back to my GP or wait to see if the blood occurs again. thanks
First and foremost how old are you sir? Your risk of prostate cancer is very high since you have 2 nuclear family members with prostate cancer. You should start prostate cancer screening ate age 45 with annual serum TOTAL PSA. That will determine if you will be needing a biopsy to check if you have prostate cancer. Prostate cancer rarely presents with blood in the urine unless it is locally advanced already. The most common cause of blood in the urine is still infection although malignancies from the bladder and the kidneys should be ruled out with an ultrasound. You also need to have a urinalysis done to check for infection or other causes for the blood in the urine.
I Hope i was able to answer your question sir.
