Hello Doctor, as a Paramedic on the Road i dealt with a patient dripping blood from his Penis.
79yom no Prostrate issues slight hypertension but keeps very well.
Had been in Hospital day before for Rectal exam Endoscopy, wondering if that could have contributed to enlargement of prostrate, resulting in the bleed, only pain was discomfort ( tender below Umbilical ), I shall follow up the case but meantime curious to what you Think .......NL. Paramedic

Hello,
thanks for using health care magic

there are several reasons that could account for urethral bleeding.

Given his age, the first things to rule out will be be issues related to the prostate, cancers of the bladder, or trauma etc.

Problems related to the prostate could be benign hypertrophy or prostate cancer or chronic prostatitis which are all common conditions given his age.

Bladder cancer as well is a possibility as it is not uncommon in elderly.

If at the hospital, he had any stuff inserted into his urethra, the bleeding must have resulted from trauma either on normal structure or pre-existing problem of the urinary tract.

Best regards
Dr Achuo
