Bladder Leakage, Dry And Sore Mouth. Medicated With Oxybutynin 5mg. Advice?

I am a 63 yr old woman w/ a bladder leakage problem. I have been taking oxybutynin 5mg 2x/da for about 4 mo. I have been experiencing a dry/sore roof of my mouth since Feb. I also have a hoarseness in my speech. Not that I ever had a great voice, but now it hurts to attempt to sing in Church. I use biotene mouth spray for temporary relief. By temporary, I mean a few minutes. Lozenges don't help. I take other medications for RA, but I've been on them since 2005. Any advice? Chris Patterson

Urologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for your query.Based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have
been taking Oxybutinine for symptoms of Over Active Bladder.
This drug belongs to anticholinergic group of drug and has side effects like dryness of the mouth and blurred vision.

Please see that you keep yourself well hydrated and and take water at frequent intervals

The use of throat lozenges or some lemon juice toffees or chewing gums will keep secretion of saliva to help in keeping your mouth fresh and prevent from dryness.
