Birth Control. Taking Pills. Missed Period. Chances Of Pregnancy?

I started using birth control almost two months ago. My period came regularly the first month, starting the first day of the sugar pills. I had sex on the 4th of this month. We used a condom and I don't think it bore. I am now on the second month sugar pills, but I have not started my period (first sugar pill on Monday)) I missed a couple pills this month. The first one I took later that night and the second time I didn't take it until the next day. Is it possible for me to be pregnant?

Hi,
Thank you for choosing Healthcaremagic. Yes missing pills can make you pregnant, although the chances are less as barrier method like condom was used. You can wait for 1 week , if you still dont get your periods kindly do a home pregnancy test done.

OBGYN Dr. Timothy Raichle's  Response
Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.

Given that you are on the birth control pill AND was using condoms, the chance of pregnancy is almost zero. You should check a pregnancy test anyway. The delay in your cycle is related to the missed pills.

I hope that this helps and good luck!

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.

OC pills needs to be taken daily at regular time. If you have missed doses, better to use alternative methods of protection like barrier method.
If you haven't taken regularly, Pills doesn't serve its purpose.
You can get Blood HCG test done for checking your pregnancy status.

Hope I answered your question. Consult your doctor for further examination and management.
Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries.
Wish you good health. Take care.

Regards
Dr. Vidya

hi,
there is chance of pregnancy, but it would be useful to tell if i would know, which day of your cycle you had sex. if you had sex withing 5 days of your previous periods and nearing due dates of current cycle, then there is less chance.

wish you good health
