Being Type 1 Diabetic And Athletic, Should I Intake More Insulin For The Increased Sugar Levels?
Im 20 years old got diagnosed last year with type 1. I think I recently came out of the honeymoon stage. My sugar levels have been around 280 for a couple weeks now but in the morning around 150. On a sliding scale. My question is should I be taking more insulin. I am athletic and snowboard often. I think my body is use to being this high and I dont want a pump. Any advice would be much appritiated. Thanks.
Hello Thanks for the query to HCM Forum. Since your age is 20 years and an athletic , so you are having diabetes type 1 ( IDDM ) , your sugar level is high 280 mg / dl , morning sample is also high (150). Either increase the dose of INSULIN or change the quality of insulin ( plain or lente or mixed ) . Consult your treating doctor and get his opinion , don't heed over rumors about diabetes. Good luck.
