Bald Patch On Head. Advised To Massage Scalp With Mintop Forte. Any Side Effects?

Dear Dr. Prasad, I have a small bald patch on the top back of my head. I have been advised to massage my entire scalp daily with Mintop forte 5% for 6 months. I would like to know whether it has any side effects and as it has been prescribed only for 6 months, will not using it after 6 months lead to hair loss thereafter? Once started, will I have to use this for the rest of my life? I am a 26 years old male. Thank you

Hi,

Thanks for writing here.

Small bald patch is mostly due to alopecia areata.

Mintop forte is effective in it but there are other good treatment options for it.

Topical steroid lotion work well.

But gold standrad treatment is intralesional injection of steroid in the patch.

You need to consult a dermatologist for this.

Alopecia areata is a curable condition and you need not to continue minoxidil life long.
