I have a merina device in situ for treatment o pros.3 days ago I started metformin not for diabetes but to assist in weight loss as I have tried everything.i have just notice some back pain today and it feels exactly like when I used to menstruate?i have not menstruated for 7 years since I had the mirena inserted and I definitely don't want to start again?should I continue the metformin?
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. After the insertion of mirena, you are likely to have some periods as it gradually releases the progesterone causing the bleeding. Since you have polycystic ovaries, it will help in the weight loss. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. Regards, Dr. Rakhi Tayal , drrakhitayal@gmail.com
