Hello Dr, My baby is 19 months old. She is still on breast feed. she doesn t drink any other milk other than the breastmilk , looks like she doesn t like the taste, smell of it. I ve tried everything, formula s, cow s milk, nothing works, this is really worrying me, not sure if she s getting the necessary nutrients b coz lately she s been not eating well. also I need suggestions on how to stop breast feeding... Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
IT is high time to introduce cow's milk for her.
Breastfeed alone will not meet her caloric requirements.
Exclusively breastfeeding her at this age will only cause her damage.
She will not get necessary nutrients.
Gradually wean her off.
STick to feeding her at mealtimes.
Mix milk with her food, in porridges etc.
She HAS to learn to drink other milk, its that simple.
She might cry and refuse milk for a few days, but dont give in.
All the best
Take care.
