Hi Shilpa,

I would suggest that you follow your doctor's advise . Please give your child medication as advised by his paediatrician. Also, the doctor has ruled out the possibility of a chest infection, so don't worry.

However, I know it is difficult and heart breaking to watch your child in distress. One possibilty is post nasal drip which causes the cold & secretions to trickle down the throat ,thereby causing cough. You could try applying a little vicks on his chest. Make the baby lie on his left or right side. You could try giving the baby a little honey mixed with a pinch of pepper powder. All these measures might help reduce the cough.

You might also want to try steam inhalation along with your child. Please be careful.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
