Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for query.

I can understand your concern. However, at this age a child start develops repeated URI as its inherent antibody levels fall. The child develops its own resistance by these repeated URI. Every URI need not require an antibiotic as most of the time they are viral in origin. You can take the following steps to reduce the recurrence:
1. Proper feeding hygiene and bottle care.
2. Good wholesome meals to provide all the nutrients.

You can request the day care centre to ensure hygienic environment and ensure that other infected children take adequate treatment to reduce cross infection.

I hope I have responded to your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your daughter all the best.

Regards,

RKK

Pediatrician, Neonatology Dr. Aarti Gupta's  Response
thanks for your query,
well its quite normal for this age grp of child having repeated URTI when exposed to day care
reasons:1 maternal immunity going down
2early exposure to infection in daycare
3 her respiratory system is still in developing phase
For this u have to work for immunity system to be strong
1 good healthy diet having combination of cereals, pulses, fruits and vegetables
2 hygiene at home and day care :like washing hands whenever feeding baby, taking good hygiene while bottle feeding
3 keep baby well hydrated
4 avoid juices when baby sick as they further irritate throat leading to worsening of symptoms and give them often when they r normal as they r good source of vit C
5ask daycare people if someone having infection to isolate that baby and proper treatment to reduce spread of infection
well dont worry most of these infections are viral, but do remember to visit your pediatricin regularly and take proper vaccination
i hope i solved your concern
god bless
