my baby is 6 months old who bumped her face (1/2 inch above eyebrows in the center between the eyes) two weeks ago. she now have symptoms of a cold virus.ie. runny/stuffy nose congestion sounds in chest, and a sounds like she is trying to cough up mucus . these symptoms have been apparent for almost two weeks. she started running a fever 4 days ago. (103.6 being the highest,) the fever is reduced with medication (motrin) but it returns after a few hours. (101-103)

Pediatrician, Critical Care 's  Response
Based on your query, I think she has caught an infection, more commonly a virus infection (leading to cold).

Motrin is anti-fever and painkiller medicine. It can given maximum 3 times a day. I hope you've read the package insert to find out correct dose for her.

You can try Calpol (paracetamol containing) medicine for fever along with motrin.

It is very crucial that she keeps drinking enough milk and some other food during illness to prevent dehydration and getting weak.

As the symptoms have been ongoing for 2 weeks and fever for 4 days, I would advise to get her checked over by a Pediatrician. I don't feel there is any relation from bump to her head and current symptoms, it just appears to be coincidental.

Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Aparna Amritsagar's  Response
Helllo,
Thanks for writing your query to us.
Since your baby is too small so its better that you show your baby to doctor since fever is very high grade.
Also keep a detail chart of the temperature reading that will help the doctor to come to early diagnosis after knowing the pattern of fever. Dont worry & stressed up.
Take care.
