Asked To Reduce Coreg, Going For Necular Stress Test. Is It Ok ?

I'm going in for a necular stress test with a new cardioligist tomorrow and he has asked me to reduce my Coreg from 25mg twice a day to 12.5mg twice a day over the past couple of weeks. it's my understanding that this would give a more accurate ejaction fraction during the test, but i do have concerns if he should request i stay at that dose for a long period due to the trouble i had adjusting to the medication to get to the full dose. Last stress test i had an ef of about 24%.

Hi, Welcome to HCM.

Based on the information you have provided, I do agree that lowering the dosage of drugs acting on the cardiac muscle performance such as Coreg will give more accurate information in regard to your ejection fraction. However, if you have noticed any unusual problem or experienced any symptom of heart failure such as difficulty in breathing or swelling in the legs due to lowering of the dose then you should certainly let the cardiologist know so that he can put you back on your original dose.
