Hi Paul wire
Welcome to HealthcareMagic.
This mostly is due to any fit like movement in the night.Do you remember any events that happened last night ? Where did you wake up ? Were you under alcohol influence ? Was there something abnormal in your place you found in the morning ?

When you have a fit or seizure , you bite your tongue and also there can be conjuctival bleeding(redness in your eye).
There is nothing you need to do for the injuries or bleed in eye.they will subside soon.
You should visit neurologist and get evaluated. An EEG is essential to know if there was seizure and if any seizure activity.

My discussion may sound weird as you don’t remember any events , but , believe me , you have to be on safe side and rule out seizure.
You can provide the details as comment to this reply or feel free to mail me.

Take care
