if you are pregnant and have an upper respitory infection (in the lungs) can it get passed to the fetus and/or hurt the fetus in any way. I am constantly coughing and making flem and am 26 weeks pregnant. I also smoke. Tomorrow I fly out to fl to visit family for a week. should i go to the er
Please, do stop smoking first, as this can have detrimental effects on the growing fetus. The common respiratory tract infection will not transfer to the fetus. You need to consult your ENT specialist to examine for any focus of infection. Till then, drink plenty of warm water to bring out the mucus.
