Hi,

Thanks for your query in HCM. I am Dr.Aliem, and I am pleased to answer your query.

I went through your post, and your clinical profile fits in with hypothyroidism like a glove. This means your thyroid is producing hormones in quantities lower than what is normally required.

I suggest you to visit your general physician who may order a thyroid profile for you to assess the status of your thyroid hormones. This is a blood test. Additionally, a fasting lipid profile may need to be done since you are over weight and have heart problem too. If hypothyroidism is diagnosed, you may have to take thyroid hormone replacement therapy (depending upon your hormone levels). Fortunately, this is available as tablets.

I suggest you to limit your calorie intake i.e minimize intake of high fat and empty calorie foods, including alcohol.

Also, please do work outs as far as possible. Your Physiotherapist/gym trainer will guide you to choose exercises that best suit you, considering your injured foot.

Please avoid taking self medications, even vitamins. They may be harmful in the long run.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to post further queries if any. I will be glad to answer.

Dr.Aliem MD,
