Are There Any Side Effects Of Taking Pristiq?

Yes I was abuses when I was 9 until 15 years old by step-dad and had a real hard time with it so doctor put me on Seriquel 100-600mg for 5 years but didn t like the side affects so wended myself off and have been off of it for 6 months but going through Menopause and having server side affect (hot flashes really bad, headachs, mood swings, no appetite and more) doctor put me on Pristiq 100mg but not feeling better and too sleepy! What do you recommend I do?

Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

I carefully passed through your question and would explain that increased sleepiness is not related to Pristiq adverse effects (in fact it is known to cause insomnia in up to 15% of the patients).

Anyway, it is known to cause chronic fatigue and increase yawning.

For this reason, I would recommend reducing the dose to 50mg daily.

It is also necessary performing some blood lab tests (complete blood count for anemia, blood electrolytes, thyroid hormone levels for possible dysfunction), in order to exclude other possible causes that may lead to this clinical scenario.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.

Hope to have been helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Aida
