Thanks for contacting HCM

I can see that you are concerned about increasing a dose of Acitrom in your father. Acitrom is a blood thinner very similar to warfarin. These medications are used to reduce risk of forming clots and require close monitoring by a physician. Blood test monitoring with a protime is needed to determine the dose and each person needs to be individualized. Your question is if increasing the dose is acceptable and if the doctor who is monitoring him is prescribing his dose recommends this then he should. Low dose may indicate he is not sufficiently anti-coagulated and at risk of form clots.

Hope this answers your question. Please contact us again with any of your questions.
