Dear Roland, Hi
I can understand your concern regarding the safety of the prescribed medications.
Incomplete data like timing and the dosage of the prescribed medications.
Zolpidem & Ambien are same drugs which have
hypnotic action and either of which is effective for the treatment of short term insomnia & anxiety states.
Xanax contains Alprazolam a short acting
Benzodiazepine indicated for the management of anxiety states.
These 3 drugs basically depress the CNS (the brain) can cause
drowsiness, loss of balance while walking, memory impairment, decreased breathing, excessive sleepiness or impairment of the consciousness when taken all together. If I were your treating physician, I would have prescribed only one medication either Zolpidem or Ambien which serves the purpose of controlling both anxiety and lack of sleep.
So, in view of the above explanation, this combination can be harmful on long run. Hence I suggest you to consult your physician to review the prescribed medications for anxiety and lack of sleep.
Lisinopril a BP lowering medication has no such interaction with either of the above medications and hence should be continued as before to control the BP.
Hope the suggestions given above could be useful to you.
A feed back is appreciated.
